Ehhh, I'd recommend trying it out first (ingame, not on EFT) and then decide. Like I said, some of my friends swear by it.
But, a MWD, lack of buffer (800mm, really?!) and a lack of repairer (I can understand in blobs or larger gangs, but not with a buddy, you need to rethink the fit) and a scram means you're going to get into a slug fest and die. Although the idea seems to be to kill them faster than they kill you, you are going to die!
Really, with this kind of fit you want as much DPS as possible to bring them down before they do it to you first.
But yeah, try out a small gun fit if you want to, but really rethink that thing you have up there.
(a) Rep Thorax is fail thorax.
To get any decent rep out of a ship for the purpose of solo fighting (vs ships that don't gank a lot) in a T1 cruiser/BC hull, the only option you have is dual-MAR cap injected setup with at least 5 slots for tank (2x MAR+2x EANM+DC+Cap booster in mids).
Incidentally, this leaves the Thorax with little fitting left for proper guns, with -1 essential mid, and 0 damage mods. In short, it makes it useless (not to mention that you'll never tank something as lowly as a Rupture).
If you want to rep a medium sized hull, look up the Myrmidon; it can fit a actual non-paper tank on it which will work in solo situations.
The only role a Thorax does (and a Vexor does not) is to gank; and for this it needs neutrons, it needs magstabs, and it needs, most of all, speed. Blaster range is horrendous and you must get in it as fast as possible. I would sooner take a Thorax which relies on luck (ECM drones) for a tank and relies on DPS then a Thorax which is big, fat, slow, has little DPS and can be kited by anything as a result.
